The Story Behind Woodworking Projects Today

Ted's Woodworking Plans

"Guy was absolutely blown away by the detail and quality of the plans. They included images, schematics, a material list, tools required, and more."

Woodworking Projects Today is the brainstorm of Guy Collins, a former Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and avid professional woodworker. You can read more about that in his bio.

Seeing the frustration his father and grandfather experienced in finding good working plans at a reasonable price, Guy went on the hunt to find a repository quality woodworking plans, covering a wide range of projects.

In 2012, he read an article written by a guy named Ted McGrath, who claimed he had complied over 16,000 high-quality woodworking plans for a few cents per plan. This seemed like a “too good to be true” offer, so Guy emailed Ted and asked for a few sample plans. Within minutes Ted emailed him back with not just a few, but 50 comprehensive plans.

Guy was absolutely blown away by the detail and quality of the plans. They included images, schematics, a material list, tools required, and more. Guy immediately pulled out his credit card and ordered the full library. And to his surprise, new plans arrive in his inbox every month. From that point on, Ted’s Plans were used almost exclusively in Guy’s woodworking business which he had then taken over from his father.

Ted also, made a commitment to share his excitement with as many woodworking enthusiasts as he could, and as result set up Woodworking Projects Today, not only to promote Ted’s plans but to provide useful information to novice, intermediate, and experienced woodworkers.
